Set in a modern day survival-horror universe, the co-operative gameplay of L4D casts four “Survivors” in an epic struggle against hordes of swarming zombies and terrifying “Boss Infected” mutants.

The Survivor Co-op Game Mode is played out across four sprawling campaigns, set in urban and rural environments. Each campaign has an over-riding team objective, and is comprised of five large maps. The campaigns link together to tell the story of the Survivor’s escape to safety. The team of four Survivors may be comprised of 1 to 4 human players, allowing for single player and multiplayer co-op games.

Next generation AI technology powers all non-player Survivor and zombie characters. This is facilitated by the AI Director, a pool of systems used to procedurally generate a unique experience by monitoring the players’ experiences and tailoring the pacing and difficulty of action for each game. This makes for a different experience each time the game is played.

In Left 4 Dead’s Vs. Mode players may play as a Survivor or as one of four types of “Boss Infected.” Each of the “Boss Infected” possesses an exceptional mutant ability – such as a 50-foot tongue lasso (Smoker) or a giant belly full of explosive methane gas (Boome) – instead of traditional firearms.

Left 4 Dead on the Xbox 360 Features:

* Addictive co-op action gameplay from the makers of Counter-Strike and Half-Life
* Advanced artificial intelligence drives both friendly and unfriendly creatures to dynamically create intense single-player, co-op, and multiplayer experiences every time the game is played
* 20 new maps. 10 new weapons. Four sprawling campaigns.
* Match making, stats, rankings, and awards system drive collaborative play
* Designer’s Commentary mode allows gamers to go “behind the scenes” of the game.
* Powered by Source and Steam

Anyone else getting this?

I know Me and Jimmy|C are. And we're both really looking forward to it, played the demo constintely lately and it get's funner every time, especially on expert! Zombies everywhere!

Online sounds good with the verses mode - Survivors vs Zombies.

Edge - 9/10
GameSpy - 4.5/5
IGN - 9.2/10
Official Xbox Magazine - 9.5/10
TeamXbox - 9.1/10

I did really enjoy L4D but as no-one decided to get it it got abit boring playing online with some idiots being stupid.

Also the story is only short so once i completed it i ended up trading it in anf got Res Evil 5 which i love!

Both are great games but Res Evil has alot more gameplay and a good story.

I'd say get Res Evil 5, also the co-op is pretty nice with just the two of ya's kickin ass.

I didnt think that much of resi 5, found it a bit boring but then i have never been that big of a fan of the series. If you want a good survival horror game get dead space it pisses over every thing in that genre

I recently bought Dead Space for £15 on your advice Mac, not played it but I'm looking forward to it.

I also bought Mirror's Edge which is fun (but hard). Sadly, it also seems to give me motion sickness so I can only play it for a short while before I have to turn it off!

I have a lot of respect for EA for making Mirrors Edge, a gutsy effort in a game that wont appeal to all and wont make them much money, but I will criticise the release date and marketing of the game. (same time as Dead Space, Left 4 Dead, COD W@W, Pure)

For those who havent played it he is a short run-down...
You play as a female runner (see for an example http://uk.video.search.yahoo.com/video/ ... 1411065043)
and are part of a group which are beyond the law of the land and are most wanted by the fuzz.

The story is about finding out the truth of a murder her cop sister is about to take the rap for.
... and I didnt finish it.

There is also a time trial mode to see if you can clear sections of the skyline and compete with other online times.

Overview: not a bad game but how often will you play it. I rented it from lovefilm for 2 weeks and having played it for 3-4 days I would never look to play it again.
ps. its pretty cool when you fall 70 feet to your death eh Ste!

Back to RESI5 V L4D, thanks for you input, I hope either one of those will come to me next from lovefilm and I will buy the other.

Yeah, the motion blur and sound effects when you fall are so cool that dying makes you laugh instead of be annoyed.

One time I ran to disarm a plod on a piece of scaffold only to push the wrong button and jump straight over his head and plummet 100ft to my death, it was great!

And I'll agree with Jimmy, bravo EA for making the game but Booo! for how you released and marketed it. If they had given it a summer/spring release I think it would have fared much better for a niche game.

Gears of War 2 is coming my way from love film, I think I will buy RE5, and I'll wait and see how much L4D is in a month when its being re-released with the DLC included.
